Nick Kyrgios defended himself for eating sushi during the post-match press conference after his match with Paul Jubb at the 2022 Wimbledon. He later claimed that he is not Roger Federer and does not have 13 people taking care of him.

The Aussie appeared as a guest on the Piers Morgan show in December 2023. In one of the questions, the broadcaster asked him about the sushi incident and also claimed that it was disrespectful to the press and that Roger Federer would never do that. Nick Kyrgios defended himself by saying:

“But I’m not Roger Federer. You can’t expect everyone to be Roger Federer, you can’t do that; it’s unfair. That means 99% of tennis tour are not up to Roger Federer’s standards. That’s sport, that’s personality. He also has nine people in his team to make sure he has food ready. I only have 3.”

Nick Kyrgios has played only one competitive match since October 2022. Serious injuries on his knees and wrist have kept him away from the tennis court. But the Aussie is working hard to make a successful comeback.
