Paula Badosa has slammed a fan for commenting on her private moment with boyfriend Stefanos Tsitsipas. This was with regard to a picture of the couple that showed them stretching together in a gym.

A few weeks ago, the Spanish player had opened up about her wish to keep her relationship with Tsitsipas private. The couple parted ways for a brief period of time in May 2024, but within a few weeks of that Tsitsipas shared they had got back together.

During one of her French Open press conferences, Badosa was asked about her relationship status, to which she had said:

"He already explained and I have nothing else to say, I mean, it's our private life. I think one of the things that we didn't like is that it was very public, so now we want to keep it to ourselves. We know it's not going to be easy because we are two public people so people will ask, but we want to keep it more to ourselves."

Now, a picture of Paula Badosa and Stefanos Tsitsipas from the Cincinnati Open has gone viral, where they can be seen stretching in the gym while holding hands. On this, a fan recalled the player's statement of wanting to keep things private:

"When they got back together they said, 'I mean, it's our private life. I think one of the things that we didn't like is that it was very public, so now we want to keep it to ourselves.' So why don't they."

In response, the 26-year-old clarified that she wasn't aware of cameras being present in the gym and that she was talking to her partner after defeating Yulia Putintseva.

"Unfortunately we didn’t know there were cameras there. I just finished my match, nobody was in the gym, we were just stretching and chatting after my win. So please, before all this judgement and talking, inform yourselfs and chill a bit. Thanks."

Stefanos Tsitsipas on why Paula Badosa doesn't attend his matches

Stefanos Tsitsipas recently shared the reason why he and Paula Badosa don't attend each other's matches. He said it is one of their agreements, as they want to focus more on their respective games.

"This is one of the agreements I made with Paula," said Tsitsipas. "Sometimes when she's playing, I have an off day and need to train and just get back into my routine. It can sometimes be difficult and drain my energy when I'm watching her game on an outdoor court with hundreds of fans asking for autographs."

He added:

"If she wants to watch, she always can. But it's better if we focus on our tennis and our training."

Paula Badosa has reached the semifinals of the Cincinnati Open after defeating Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 6-3, 6-2. The Spanish player will take on sixth seed Jessica Pegula, with the winner facing either World No. 1 Iga Swiatek or third seed Aryna Sabalenka in the final.
