Carlos Alcaraz was recently asked at a press conference if he visited nightclubs during his Ibiza vacation. The Spaniard, with his usual, unflinching honesty, answered in the affirmative. Both the question and Alcaraz's answer have drawn reactions from tennis fans.
Alcaraz's Ibiza vacation came on the back of his maiden French Open title triumph earlier this month. The Spaniard decided to make the most of the small gap between the French Open and the Cinch Championships in Queen's and enjoyed a holiday in Ibiza with his closest friends.
Ahead of his grasscourt campaign opener in Queen's, where he is the defending champion, the World No. 2 was asked during a presser:
"Hey, Carlos. Nice to see you. Can you tell us, did you go to any nightclubs in your holiday?"
A smiling Alcaraz said:
"I did."
The question posed by the journalist was ridiculed by several tennis fans on X (formerly Twitter). One set of fans was blatantly critical of it.
"What a weird question," wrote one fan.
"Journos: be transparent. Best way for players (not as sweet as Carlitos) to warm to you. "hey, we saw you belting karaoke on your instagram. what can you tell us about your celebrations?" is a realer question, if that's your angle, than did u go to any nightclubs? CLEARLY. hes 21," another fan commented.
"I know Carlos doesn’t seem to bother but what kind of question is this? what they do in their free time is none of our business and journalists shouldn’t be asking this???" asked another fan.
Another set of fans reacted to Carlos Alcaraz's honest response instead of the journalist and the question.
"People complaining about this type of question need to unclench. Carlos is a fun guy, he loves those types of questions. He's not Rybakina. Put him immediately in a good mood," wrote a fan.
"His honesty is just adorable! Never change, @carlosalcaraz!" commented another fan.
"When a memory of going out makes you itch that crotch!" another fan chimed in.

Carlos Alcaraz went on to elaborate on his Ibiza holiday during the presser. The three-time Major winner said he is the type of person who sometimes needs to take a break from tennis. According to the Spaniard, regularly unwinding with family and friends allows him to return to the sport reinvigorated.
"I need these things too. It is clear that each player is different, but for me, to have my best level I need to separate my personal life from tennis. Have my days off, be able to rest my mind, be with family and friends. Put the racket aside. It is a time that suits me very well," Alcaraz said (via AS - translated from Spanish).
The Spaniard, who is the No. 1 seed at Queen's, is set to kickstart his grasscourt campaign against Francisco Cerundolo on Tuesday, June 18.
