Novak Djokovic voiced his opinion on Nick Kyrgios' unabashed attack on World No. 1 Jannik Sinner amid the Indian Wells doping scandal. Ahead of his Brisbane International campaign, he opined that while he doesn't find Kyrgios' comments against Sinner "nice", he agrees with the Aussie on the lack of transparency and consistency in the trials.

Kyrgios has so far not minced his words even once while condemning the Italian for failing two drug tests for clostebol—a banned performance-enhancing substance, during the 2024 Indian Wells Open in March. For violating the anti-doping policy, he had his prize money for the Masters 1000 tournament docked but didn't receive any ban.

Moreover, the details of this case weren't made public until the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) decided on the punishment in August. Notably, the ITIA's verdict has been challenged by World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the case is pending in the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

Kyrgios is among many voicing their discontent on the developments, however, he has been among the most unapologetic, apparently vowing to go all out against Sinner if he faces him at the 2025 Australian Open.

During a press conference in Brisbane, Djokovic was asked to comment on the Australian's verbal onslaught. In response, the Serb replied:

"We live in a world where everyone has the right to express themselves. Nick has spoken a lot about the whole Jannik doping case, and he's right about the transparency and the inconsistency of the protocols and the comparisons between the various cases.
"We have seen many players in the past, and also currently, who have been suspended for not even having undergone anti-doping tests and for not having communicated their whereabouts, and some lower-ranked players who have been waiting for their cases to be resolved for more than a year."

Novak Djokovic caused an uproar among tennis fans on social media by endorsing Nick Kyrgios' views on Jannik Sinner's doping saga. While, some praised the Serb for being honest, many also blasted him.

"Novak, you used to be one of my favorite players, but after this statement, I can no longer support you. Shame on you Novak, you’re agreeing with biggest clown Kyrgios," a fan wrote on X.
"Shame on you Nole," wrote another.
"Hahaha he agrees with Kyrgios, he just want Sinner out to win another slam.....shameless fraud," a fan remarked.

Interestingly, Djokovic is due to pair up with Kyrgios for doubles duty at the 2025 Brisbane International. The duo will face Alexander Erler and Andreas Mies in a Round-of-32 match at the ATP 250 event on Monday, December 30.

A day later, the 24-time Grand Slam champion will get his singles campaign underway against Rinky Hijikata.
