Honey Deuce is the official drink of the US Open this year and has been a regular feature at the New York Major. It was made by restaurateur Nick Mautone in 2006 for vodka brand Grey Goose, who were among the tournament sponsors.

The drink consists of 1.25 ounces of Grey Goose Vodka, three ounces of fresh lemonade, half ounce of premium raspberry liqueur and three honeydew balls, which are meant to represent tennis balls.

Nick Mautone, the man behind Honey Deuce's creation, spoke about the drink's inspiration, claiming that the honeydew melon balls looked like tennis balls.

"As I was scooping honeydew melon balls, it struck me—they looked just like tennis balls. In that moment, inspiration hit, and the concept for our cocktail was born," he told Forbes.

Mautone also said that several versions of Honey Deuce were made before but it was hard to produce them on a larger scale.

"I made several variations that did not make the cut; many proved too hard for the venue to produce in large format. This careful consideration ensured that the cocktail could be made at scale, easily prepared and served to the large crowds at the U.S. Open, always while delivering a quality, refreshing product," he said.

In order to make US Open's official drink Honey Deuce, one should start by filling a highball glass with ice cubes and adding Grey Goose vodka to it. This should be followed by adding lemonade and raspberry liqueur before topping it off with a garnish of frozen honeydew melon balls.

What is the price of Honey Deuce?

The cost of the Honey Deuce cocktail is $23 for US Open 2024. It is a slight hike from $22, which was the price of the drink at last year's edition of the New York Major.

Honey Deuce's impressive sales numbers at the US Open

The drink has been a highly successful product at the US Open, with more than two million cocktails being sold at the New York Major. Last season, 450,000 Honey Deuces were sold at Flushing Meadows, which adds up to a sum of $9.9 million.

The main draw for US Open started on August 26, with Iga Swiatek and Jannik Sinner being the respective top seeds. Coco Gauff and Novak Djokovic will enter the New York Major as the defending champions.
