Several fans were left amused when Taylor Fritz stepped foot onto the top step of the podium, despite winning a bronze at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Fritz and Tommy Paul defeated Czechs Tomas Machac and Adam Pavlasek in the bronze medal match on Saturday.

The American duo started strong, securing a four-game lead in the first set and eventually winning it 6-3. Despite encountering a strong challenge in the second set, the American duo eventually triumphed 6-4, bringing home a bronze medal.

Meanwhile, their compatriots Austin Krajicek and Rajeev Ram came away with the silver after a grueling final against Australia's Matthew Ebden and John Peers, losing 6-7 (6), 7-6 (1), [10-8]. Notably, this marks the first time in 120 years that the USA has secured two men's doubles medals at one edition of the Olympics.

During the photoshoot after the medal ceremony, Fritz put his right foot on the podium's top spot reserved for gold medalists. The image, shared by Tennis TV on X (formerly Twitter), garnered playful responses from fans.

One fan wondered what Fritz was trying to do during the ceremony.

"What is Taylor trying to do here?"
"Maybe if you have a foot on the gold podium they will give you a gold medal too. Worth a try 😂," a fan joked.
"bro thinks he's on the team," another added.

Here are a few more reactions from fans:

"Congrats! Why is Fritz standing with one foot on the gold medal podium?" One fan asked.
"Fritz trying to get himself on the Gold part of the podium," a fan said.
"Fritz wants to be on that gold podium so bad 😂 congrats to all," another commented.

After their bronze medal triumph at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Taylor Fritz expressed that while he and Tommy Paul are primarily singles players, he couldn't imagine sharing doubles victory with anyone else. The 26-year-old told the media.

“It’s cool… both of us are singles players, but as far as doing it in doubles (goes), I don’t think I’d want to share this moment with anybody else,” Fritz said ( via ITF).

Paul later echoed his doubles teammate's sentiments saying:

As a whole, the whole time we’ve been here, it’s been so cool, and to leave here and share a medal with Taylor, it’s a dream for us.”

Several prominent American tennis players, including Coco Gauff, Jessica Pegula, and Frances Tiafoe, took to social media to celebrate Paul and Fritz's achievement.
