Martina Navratilova recently expressed her disbelief regarding a news report claiming that two families of Alabama prison inmates discovered their deceased loved ones' bodies lacking organs.
Navratilova, known for her outspoken views on social and political issues, has been a vocal advocate for human and animal rights throughout her career. The 67-year-old shared a news report that claimed that Brandon Clay Dotson's family filed a federal lawsuit against the Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC), alleging that the department violated their constitutional rights by mishandling their bodies (via ABC 3340).
Singleton, 74, died in November 2021 at the Hamilton Aged and Infirmed Center. His daughter, Charlene Drake stated in a testimony that the prison chaplain told her that the ADOC would take care of the funeral arrangements, but she insisted that the body be sent to a funeral home (via Business Insider).
When the body arrived, the funeral director reportedly informed her that it was in a state of decomposition and that his brain and other internal organs were missing. The details about Singleton's missing organs have reportedly been included in the filings of the Dotson case.
Dotson, 43, died in November 2023 at the Ventress Correctional Facility. His family filed a lawsuit last month, stating that they had to wait five days for the ADOC to release his body, and when they did, it was severely decomposed. They hired a pathologist to perform a second autopsy and he found that the heart was missing.
Navratilova shared the news report on her X (formerly Twitter) account on January 12.
"What in the world???" Navratilova wrote.
Martina Navratilova criticizes Donald Trump for wishing for economic crash under the Biden administration
Martina Navratilova strongly condemned former US President Donald Trump for expressing his desire for a US economic downturn during President Joe Biden's administration within the next year.
Known for her vocal opposition to Trump and advocacy for various social issues, Navratilova expressed her outrage over Trump's comments made during an interview on Lindell TV, a right-wing platform hosted by American conservative political commentator Lou Dobbs.
In the interview, Trump, currently leading the GOP presidential primary race, expressed his wish for an economic crash to blame the Biden administration and avoid parallels with former President Herbert Hoover, who presided over the onset of the Great Depression in 1929.
"We have an economy that’s so fragile, and the only reason it’s running now is it’s running off the fumes of what we did," Trump said (via NBC News Channel 8).
"It’s just running off the fumes. And when there’s a crash — I hope it’s going to be during this next 12 months because I don’t want to be Herbert Hoover. The one president I just don’t want to be, Herbert Hoover."
An X (formerly Twitter) user, posted a brief excerpt from the interview, and Navratilova quoted it with the caption:
"Selfish to the bone."
The 18-time Grand Slam champion wasn't the sole critic of Trump's comments. A former congressman shared the clip on X with a caption stating:
"He’s humanly incapable of caring about ANYTHING or ANYONE but himself. He’s just humanly incapable of it."
Navratilova quoted the tweet and wrote:
"A true psychopath. And narcissist."
