Martina Navratilova recently lambasted political commentator Tim Miller over his take on sharing locker room space with men. Navratilova's critique of Miller came amid the raging debate surrounding women's spaces and whether transgender women should have access to them.
Former World No. 1 and 18-time singles Grand Slam champion Martina Navratilova has time and again voiced her opposition to transgender women having access to spaces reserved for biological women, especially in sports. The Czech-American's views on the subject stem from the fact that transgender women were born biological males.
Recently, political commentator Tim Miller, in a discussion with philosopher Sam Harris, said that even being gay, he doesn't want to share locker room space with fellow men. However, Miller concluded by saying that "that's just life."
"There's a lot of people with male equipment that I don't want to see when I'm in the men's locker room and I'm a gay man. There's a lot of people's male equipment I'd rather not see. There's a lot of guys with a hair dryer, blowing their balls, I'd rather not see that, but hey, that's just life though," Miller told Harris.
Sall Grover, the founder of Giggle, a female social media network, shared Miller's take on X (formerly Twitter) and captioned her post:
"The locker room is not a difficult case. Locker rooms designated by sex was a working social contract until some men decided they are women. There is no need to rearrange anything around a bunch of men who revealed they are delusional."
Martina Navratilova took notice of Grover's post and reshared it, questioning Miller's words.
"Tim Miller - WTAF??? 1- we don’t want to see it 2- we don’t want to be seen 3- we don’t want to even think about it- safety, dignity etc. What is wrong with you???" Navratilova furiously questioned.
In November, Navratilova responded to criticism for advocating sex-based spaces for women.
Martina Navratilova stood firmly by her stance on sex-based spaces for women after facing 'TERF' criticism
Navratilova was blatantly criticized for her stance on sex-based spaces for women in November by an X user. The user used the derogatory term 'TERF' to describe the former World No. 1 and opined that the Czech-American had voted for the "downfall of the United States".
"So...today I learned that a woman I used to admire is a TERF. Imagine voting for the downfall of the United States b/c you're afraid of trans women in sports when trans folks are such a teeny % of our population," the user wrote.
It didn't take long for Navratilova to hit back at the user, as the 18-time singles Major winner defended her stance.
"Really? Call me what you want- I will keep fighting for women and girls for our own sex based spaces . I am a female inclusionary feminist. This is not about trans anything. This is about the right to privacy, safety and fairness. For females," Navratilova replied.
Martina Navratilova had endorsed Kamala Harris for President in the 2024 US presidential elections. The Czech-American ultimately faced disappointment as Donald Trump was elected to serve his second term as President.
