Alexander Bublik showed his emotional side after crashing out in the second round of the 2024 Paris Masters on Wednesday (October 30). The Kazakh talked positively about several great moments in his life, which included his son Vasily expressing affection towards him.

Bublik's form had been in a rut before the final ATP Masters 1000 tournament of the year, as he had dropped nine of his last ten matches. The World No. 33 got back on track this week in Paris-Bercy; he downed Italian veteran Fabio Fognini in straight sets before going out to 2022 champion Holger Rune 4-6, 2-6 in the second round.

Speaking to Tennis Channel's Prakash Amritraj earlier this week, Alexander Bublik was asked whether he was an emotional person outside his tennis life. The 27-year-old replied in the affirmative, citing an interaction with his two-year-old son, Vasily, as an instance that had brought him to tears.

"Oh, so much!" Alexander Bublik told Prakash Amitraj when asked if he was emotional. "When my son told me he loves me. Not cry, you know, but I got emotional. I get emotional to many things."

Bublik added that occasions surrounding his wife, Tatiyana, and his mother had also made him emotional in the recent past.

"Every occasion you tell me. Every big moment in my life, I was always breaking [down]," he said. "My wife put our son to bed, we were crying in the middle of the apartment. My wife's birthday, my mom's birthday, my wedding, I'm always like that."

Bublik's wife gave birth to their son Vasily in August 2022. The Kazakh has evidently done well since then, winning three ATP titles between June 2023 and February 2024.

During the interaction with Tennis Channel, Alexander Bublik also talked about his mentality in between tour events. The four-time ATP titlist insisted that he didn't like putting too much stress on himself for results.

"I set myself a goal. Let's say, during a three-month period, imagine I cheated for two weeks," Bublik said. "Then it's paradise, then I can do whatever I want. So the tough part is when you're not winning, [not] getting to your goals, and then you feel like you need to push yourself. I don't like pushing myself. I'll be honest with you, I don't wanna work."

Bublik also disclosed that his team believed his 'spirit animal' was Garfield - an orange cartoon cat.

"You know what my team calls me? Everyone has their spiritual animals... they call me Garfield," he added. "You know that cat who only eats and sleeps? That's me. I'm so proud of it, and that's what I'm seeking to be unless I'm done."

Bublik endured a tough season on the ATP Tour this year, winning only 50% (25-25) of his tour-level matches.
