Jannik Sinner recently lauded Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz's high-quality final at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The Italian also called the Serb and the Spaniard "two best players" in the world.

Sinner had to miss out on the prestigious event after he was advised against playing by his doctor due to tonsilitis. He is currently preparing to kick off his North American hardcourt swing at the National Bank Open where he is the defending champion.

While speaking to the media, Sinner talked about the thrilling Olympic tennis men's singles final between the top seeds, Djokovic and Alcaraz. The two men battled it out for two hours and 51 minutes with the Serb clinching the title 7-6(3), 7-6(2).

The 22-year-old Sinner said that though he missed the initial half of the match, he watched the entire second set. He described the match as very physical and added that two of the best players had produced something special.

"I watched a little bit because in the beginning I was practicing. So when I came back, I watched the whole second set. It was a very high level match, I think everyone agrees with that."
"It was a very physical match. When two best players in the world, they face each other at the moment they are producing something very special. So it was a pleasure to watch this kind of match."
"I think everyone of us really enjoyed it. This kind of level we don't see. So, yeah, it was an amazing match."

After Lorenzo Mussetti's bronze medal triumph at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Jannik Sinner spoke to journalist Giovanni Pelazzo and said that he was heartbroken to not be able to participate in the event since it was one of his biggest goals of the season.

"I saw some of the Olympics, although I didn't watch much tennis. It broke my heart not to be able to go to Paris, the Games were one of my main goals of the season."

At the same time, Sinner expressed delight at his compatriot's win and said that he was happy for him.

"In the end though, looking at everything from a broader perspective, Musetti won a bronze, so an Italian is happy and I am happy for him."

Sinner, the top seed, will receive a bye in the opening round of the National Bank Open. He will take on the winner of the first-round match between Pedro Martinez and his yet-to-be-decided opponent.
