John McEnroe and Jim Courier will be a part of a star-studded commentary and broadcast panel for Channel Nine for Australian Open 2025. Both former World No. 1s are experienced figures when it comes to tennis broadcasting.
Channel Nine is the host broadcasters of the Melbourne Major and their team comprises of several popular names in tennis. The commentary panel will have two former singles World No. 1s in John McEnroe and Jim Courier.
While McEnroe returned to commentating at the Australian Open last year after a four-year hiatus, Courier has been a familiar face at the tournament, particularly in post-match interviews. The 54-year-old is a two-time champion at the hard-court Major as well, having triumphed in 1992 and 1993.
Another former World No. 1 who is a part of the commentary team in Melbourne is Lleyton Hewitt, who remains the last Australian man to reach the singles final of the Asia-Pacific Grand Slam. Doubles legend Tood Woodbridge has been a regular for Channel Nine at the Australian Open and will feature in commentary this year as well.
Former doubles World No. 1 Sam Stosur and Casey Dellacqua will also be a part of the broadcast team at the tournament, as will Jelena Dokic and Alicia Molik. Other commentators include wheelchair tennis legend Dylan Alcott, Sam Smith and John Millman.
Broadcast hosts for Channel Nine during the Australian Open include James Bracey, Roz Kelly, Tony Jones, Sylvia Jeffreys, Nick McArdle and Bretty Phillips.
Olympic champions Ariarne Titmus and Jessica Fox will also be a part of the Australian Open roadcast
Channel Nine's broadcasting team for the Melbourne Major will also have two Olympic champions in swimmer Ariarne Titmus and canoe paddler Jessica Fox. Titmus has already established herself as a swimming great, having won eight Olympic medals so far, four of which came at Paris 2024. Jessica Fox is among the greatest canoe paddlers of all time, with six Olympic medals to her name, three of which are gold.
The 2025 edition of the Melbourne Major is set to commence on Sunday, January 12, with the first round of the main draw. The draws have already been released with defending champions Jannik Sinner and Aryna Sabalenka starting their respective campaigns against Nicolas Jarry and Sloane Stephens, respectively.
Ten-time champion Novak Djokovic will face American wildcard Nishesh Basavareddy in the opening round while Iga Swiatek will take on Katerina Siniakova.
