The Australian Open 2025 will be held from January 12-26. Excitement is always high for the season's first Major as tennis returns in full force after a brief off-season. All Grand Slams are financially rewarding for everyone involved, right from the players to the tournament organizers.
The total prize money for this year's edition is AUD 96.5 million, which is roughly USD 60 million. The prize money has increased by a whopping 119 percent since 2016, when it was AUD 44 million. This has been possible because the tournament has always been able to secure a bevy of big names to bankroll the event.
While ticket sales, along with merchandise and refreshment sales account for a good chunk of the tournament's finances, sponsorship deals play a huge role as well. With that in mind, here's a look into the backers of the season's first Major:
KIA is the main sponsor of the Australian Open 2025, followed by Emirates, Rolex and Luzhou Laojiao
Automobile giant KIA first sponsored the tournament back in 2002, and their partnership is still going strong. There's even a court named after the company, the KIA Arena, which is the fourth-biggest court on the premises. The company is backing the tournament as its biggest sponsor this year as well.
Dubai-based airline Emirates, luxury watchmaker Rolex, and Chinese distillery Luzhou Laojiao are the associate partners of this year's Australian Open. The 1573 Arena on the premises is named after Guojiao 1573, one of the best-selling products of the liquor company. They've partnered with the tournament since 2019.
Emirates first got on board in 2015, and have extended their commitment until 2029. Rolex became the official timekeeper and an associate sponsor in 2008, and there's no sign of this partnership ceasing any time in the future.
Louis Vuitton, Infosys, Red Bull, and Yonex are among the other notable sponsors of the Australian Open 2025
Aside from its main four sponsors, the Australian Open 2025 has also partnered with a host of well-known local and international brands. Sports equipment companies Yonex and Dunlop are among them, along with apparel and footwear maker New Balance.
Louis Vuitton and Ralph Lauren are among the leading fashion brands to sponsor the tournament. ANZ, MasterCard, Haier, Chubb, Google Pixel, CyberCX, and Infosys are part of the finance and technology-related sponsors.
Red Bull, Grey Goose, Luckin Coffee, Peroni, Somersby, Waterdrop, Aperol Spritz, Piper-Heidsieck, Canadian Club, and Squealing Pig are the leading companies from the world of beverages and drinks who are sponsoring the tournament.
The city of Melbourne is backing one of the biggest events happening in its backyard. ABC Bullion is one of the homegrown companies among the sponsors of the season's first Major, along with Bondi Sands and Chemist Warehouse. The tournament has grown in stature over the years and is only going to bag more sponsors in the coming years given its popularity.
