World No. 12 Taylor Fritz is set to face Jannik Sinner at the legendary Arthur Ashe Stadium in the final the 2024 US Open. His rise to the top stage of the tennis world has been filled with consistent improvements to his game and performances.

Taylor Fritz has won 8 career titles so far, and Sunday's clash against Sinner will mark his best appearance at a Grand Slam. Fritz defeated the likes of Matteo Berrettini, Casper Ruud, Alexander Zverev and Jannik Sinner en route to his maiden Grand Slam final appearance.

One of his breakthrough moments was the 2022 Indian Wells campaign, where Fritz emerged victorious against Rafael Nadal in the final whilst battling an ankle injury.

However, the 26-year-old's zeal for the sport also stems from and is shaped by his parents, who have both been professional tennis players.

Taylor Fritz was born to Kathy and Guy Fritz on 28 October 1997 in Rancho Santa Fe, California. Kathy May Fritz was a prominent player in the 70s and early 80s. She won seven singles titles in the WTA and had achieved a career-high ranking of 10, as well as three Grand Slam quarterfinal appearances.

In an interview with Tennis.com in 2021, Taylor Fritz talked about his mother's role in shaping his career, highlighting that while she wasn't as involved in his tennis career as his father, she still helped him make major decisions and supported him throughout:

"My mom kind of took a step back, but she’s gone to tournaments with me and it’s worked out great. She helped me make a lot of important decisions, especially early on because she’d been through it herself ... she’s there for the practices, she’s there for the matches," Taylor Fritz said.

His father, Guy Henry Fritz, has been involved with coaching and even led his son to a successful junior U.S. Open title in 2015. Having been a professional player himself, Guy Fritz got into coaching during his later years and was even awarded the U.S. Olympic Development Coach of the Year in 2016.

During an episode of the "Parenting Aces" podcast in June this year, Guy Fritz addressed how he had set up his son for success since his early years, saying,

"We were very lucky, we were living in southern California. We had a [tennis] court in our backyard, so Taylor had all the advantages. He really did.”

Taylor Fritz had strong backing from his family to pursue a career in tennis as he grew up around the best possible influences and facilities.
