Carlos Alcaraz recently found himself in the midst of a bizarre controversy after he liked a meme. The suggestive meme revolved around the World No. 2 staying at the Olympic Village over the course of his men's singles and doubles tennis campaigns at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Unsurprisingly, fans were quick to react to what Alcaraz later dismissed as simply pressing like without meaning to.

The 2024 Paris Olympics marks Alcaraz's debut at the prestigious Games. The Spaniard is among the favorites for the men's singles gold medal, and will be gunning for doubles glory as well, with two-time Olympic gold medalist Rafael Nadal alongside him.

Throughout his stay in Paris, Alcaraz will stay at the Olympic Village, where hundreds of athletes, male and female, across all the disciplines will be housed as well.

Over the years, scandalous reports have surfaced from past editions of the Games, which suggest that indulging in physical intimacy is an option for athletes staying at the Olympic Village. In light of this, a meme on Alcaraz surfaced on Instagram, showing a flaccid car gear knob with the caption: 'Alcaraz after living the Olympic Village experience'.

Later, the Spaniard liked the meme, triggering reactions from amused fans on X (formerly Twitter).

One set of fans couldn't hide their disbelief upon noticing that Alcaraz had, indeed, liked the meme.

"No way this is real," a fan wrote.
"He did not," commented another fan.
"This is why Juan Carlos needs to control this boy, we got a gold medal to win I beg," another fan chimed in.

Another set of fans poked fun at the Spaniard over the subject.

"Video of Carlos in olympic village," wrote a fan.

Another fan simply posted a video of Emma Raducanu playing the piano, suggesting that the Brit was disappointed after getting to know of Alcaraz liking the meme.

"Molina seeing this:," another fan wrote, referring to Alcaraz's agent Albert Molina, alongside a clip from Breaking Bad featuring lead character Walter White hysterically screaming.

Rafael Nadal was hit by an injury scare during doubles training merely days ahead of the start of the 2024 Paris Olympics' tennis tournament. Nadal's coach, Carlos Moya, gave the two-time Olympic gold medalist a day off, sparking concerns over Nadal's participation, particularly in singles.

However, Carlos Alcaraz recently brushed the concerns off, telling CLAY that all was well with his legendary compatriot.

"The guy is fine, he’s at his best. He’s always fine, like always!” Alcaraz said.

Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal's first challenge at the 2024 Paris Olympics will be to get past the Argentine duo of Andres Molteni and Maximo Gonzalez, on Saturday, July 27. Alcaraz is also slated to play Lebanon's Hady Habib in the men's singles first round on the same day.
