Naomi Osaka recently hinted at the release of new outfits designed by her, as she spoke about designing her own kit for the 2024 Australian Open. The Japanese player wrapped up her season after competing at the China Open.
Osaka is currently in her off-season and is expected to begin her 2025 season by competing in the Australian Open, which is scheduled to start on January 12. A few days ahead of next year's first Slam, the 27-year-old looked back on the Australian Open 2024, where she wore a costume of her design.
Osaka wore a short black Nike dress that featured a multicolored print and a white strip running across it. However, Osaka had a poor 2024 Australian Open, as she suffered an early exit after being bested by Caroline Garcia in the first round itself 6-4, 7-6.
Now, with the start of the 2025 Australian Open close, Naomi Osaka has teased the release of her new outfit in an Instagram story. She shared a picture from her 2024 appearance at the tournament and exuded excitement about showing the upcoming outfits. She wrote:
"I realize not a lot of people know that I designed my Australian Open outfit for 2024. Idk why Nike let me do this but I'm excited for everyone to see the outfits to come lol"
Naomi Osaka opened up about dealing with self-doubt
Naomi Osaka is writing a book and recently shared an excerpt from a chapter called "Self Love." Osaka took to Instagram to share a picture of the text, in which she opened up about how she overcame self-doubt. She wrote,
"Growing up I never liked myself. While that statement is bold, I also wouldn't say I disliked myself either. It was a strange contradiction of thought, I was existing but I didn't have a strong emotion or opinion tied to my being whether positive or negative."
She further wrote about how she used to compare herself to others. She wrote:
"Comparison is the thief of joy. When I was a teenager I used to compare myself to other people a lot. Whether it was from being a stereotypical teenage girl and thinking my body wasn't conventionally attractive because I'm an athlete, or comparing myself to other tennis players and thinking I'm behind."
Naomi Osaka had to cut her 2024 season short as she sustained an injury while competing at the China Open.
