Bianca Andreescu vs Jaqueline Cristian preview
Former US Open champion Bianca Andreescu will take on Romania's Jaqueline Cristian in the first round of the 2024 Wimbledon Championships next week.
Andreescu has been unlucky with injuries since her maiden Major title run at Flushing Meadows in 2019. The Canadian hurt her back last August, following which she was on the sidelines for nearly nine months. However, that didn't deter the 24-year-old from matching her career-best result at the French Open, her first tournament of 2024.
The former World No. 4 reached the third round on the terre battue before being denied by eventual finalist Jasmine Paolini. She then reached the final of the Libema Open earlier this month, where she was denied 6-4, 3-6, 5-7 by the second-seeded Liudmila Samsonova.
Cristian, meanwhile, has not had any result of note on the WTA Tour this year apart from a quarterfinals run at the Charleston Open and a last-four result at the Transylvania Open. She has compiled an overall 17-17 win/loss record across all tournaments this year.
Bianca Andreescu vs Jaqueline Cristian head-to-head
Andreescu and Cristian are yet to meet on the WTA Tour, so their head-to-head record stands at 0-0.

Bianca Andreescu vs Jaqueline Cristian prediction
Andreescu is one of the most versatile players on the WTA Tour. While the Canadian has a big serve and offensive groundstrokes, she also boasts of impressive shot selection. She has a good drop shot, which she will be looking to use to great effect during this year's Wimbledon.
Cristian does not have an aggressive intent like that of Andreescu's, as her best surface is clay. That said, she has a dependable two-handed backhand that is a great weapon for her when it comes to redirecting her opponents' firepower.
The keys for both players will be to bring baseline rallies to the tempo that they each prefer. This contest might come down to serve-return dynamics in the end, which is a department where Andreescu has the clear edge.
Pick: Andreescu to win in straight sets.
