Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz are set to face off in a blockbuster title clash at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships on Sunday, July 14. The highly anticipated encounter has reportedly set the record for the highest get-in price in sporting history on TickPick.

Aiming for his second consecutive title at the grasscourt Major, Alcaraz claimed a 6-7(1), 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 win over Daniil Medvedev to book his place in the final. Djokovic, meanwhile, eased past Lorenzo Musetti 6-4, 7-6(2), 6-4 to set up a much-awaited rematch of last year's title clash.

Carlos Alcaraz dashed the 24-time Grand Slam champion's hopes of equaling Roger Federer's record of eight Wimbledon titles last year. The Spaniard put on an outstanding display to secure a 1-6, 7-6(6), 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 victory over the Serb after a four-hour and 42-minute battle.

As Djokovic seeks to avenge his loss in this year's final, the excitement surrounding the prospect of a similarly riveting encounter has driven ticket prices to unprecedented levels.

The lowest entry price for the Wimbledon men's final stands at $10,600 (£8,345), making it the most expensive get-in price for any sporting event on TickPick in history.

Both Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic are chasing history in the upcoming final. Alcaraz aims to become only the sixth man in the Open Era to complete the Channel Slam by triumphing at the French Open and Wimbledon in the same calendar year, while the Serb is on the hunt for a record-extending 25th Grand Slam title.

"It’s gonna take the best of my abilities to beat Carlos Alcaraz" - Novak Djokovic gears up for 'huge battle' in Wimbledon final

Following his win over Lorenzo Musetti in the semifinals, Novak Djokovic predicted that Carlos Alcaraz would add many titles to his tally of three Majors but jokingly hoped that the Wimbledon 2024 title wouldn't be among them.

"We’re gonna see a lot of him in the future, no doubt. He’s gonna win many more Grand Slams. Hopefully in two days, not this one. But in the future.. when I retire in about 15 years," he said in his on-court interview.

Reflecting on their intense five-set thriller from last year, the Serb shared that he is anticipating a similarly "huge battle" and admitted that it would require the best of his abilities to beat Alcaraz.

"Jokes aside.. he already beat me in the final here last year in 5 sets. I don’t expect anything less than that. A huge battle on court. He’s complete of a player as they come. It’s gonna take the best of my abilities overall to beat him on Sunday," he added.

Despite Carlos Alcaraz's triumph over Djokovic in last year's final, the Serb holds a 3-2 lead in their head-to-head record, emerging victorious in their two most recent encounters, in the 2023 Cincinnati Open final and ATP Finals semifinal.
