Carlos Alcaraz is the defending champion at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships

The ATP Tour is set to descend upon London for the 137th edition of the Wimbledon Championships, scheduled from July 1-14, 2024.

World No. 1 Jannik Sinner headlines the field as the top seed, with defending champion Carlos Alcaraz behind. Novak Djokovic, aiming for his eighth title at SW19 to equal Roger Federer's record, is seeded third. Rounding out the top 10 are Alexander Zverev, Daniil Medvedev, Hubert Hurkacz, Casper Ruud, Alex de Minaur, and Grigor Dimitrov.

This year's edition of the Grasscourt Major will be devoid of several prominent players such as 22-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray, Nick Kyrgios, Milos Raonic, and Jiri Lehecka.

Regardless, Wimbledon 2024 promises to be exciting with two weeks of thrilling action. On that note, here are all the key details about the tournament:

What is Wimbledon?

Wimbledon stands as the oldest tennis tournament globally and is played on grass as a Grand Slam event. Its inaugural edition took place in 1877 when Great Britain's Spencer Gore clinched the title by defeating compatriot William Marshall in the championship match.

Roger Federer holds the record for the most men's singles titles at the tournament with eight trophies, followed by Pete Sampras and Novak Djokovic, both with seven and Bjorn Borg with five. Federer and Borg also share the record for the most consecutive titles in the Open Era at five each.

Venue

The 2024 Wimbledon Championships will be held at The All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London, England. Since its inception, the tournament has been hosted exclusively at this venue, with Centre Court reserved for the finals of all singles and doubles events.
