"With Rafael Nadal, every time he's 5-2 down; I'm like, no worries, guys, he's going to win"- Paula Badosa

In a press conference at the BNP Paribas Open, Paula Badosa spoke about Rafael Nadal's remarkable comeback win against Sebastian Korda. The Spaniard hailed Nadal's never-say-die attitude and stressed that she had belief in the 21-time Grand Slam champion even when he was 2-5 down in the third set.

World No. 4 Rafael Nadal defeated Sebastian Korda in three sets in the second round of the Indian Wells Masters on Saturday. Having been 2-5 down in the deciding set, the 21-time Grand Slam winner made a terrific comeback and advanced through to the third round.

With Nadal's match taking place before Badosa's match against Martincova, she was asked if watching such matches would give her a source of inspiration or add pressure on her.

She replied that they are an inspiration to her as she becomes "super motivated" after watching players like Nadal do something heroic on the court.

"No [not pressure], inspiration. He was 5-2 down. Well, with Rafa, every time he's 5-2 down or something like that, I'm like, No worries, guys, he's going to win (smiling)," said Badosa.

"It's an inspiration. I enjoy when I learn about that. I go to court, and as you can see, I was super motivated from point one. That helps because I see players like Rafa doing that, and I want to do the same," added the Spaniard.

Paula Badosa battled past Tereza Martincova in straight sets and booked her place in the third round of the BNP Paribas Open 2022 on Saturday.

Nadal will square off against the Britain's Dan Evans in the third round of the Indian Wells Masters on Monday. The 35-year-old is currently on a 16-match winning streak on the ATP tour, having already won three titles in 2022.

Head-to-head, Nadal enjoys a 2-0 lead over Evans as of now. Their last meeting came at the Davis Cup Finals in 2019 where the Spaniard defeated the Brit in straight sets.

Nadal is eyeing his fourth title of 2022 at the Indian Wells Masters, a tournament he last won in 2013.
