Martina Navratilova recently reacted to former US President Donald Trump being found guilty in the Hush Money case. A jury of 12 people found Trump guilty of falsifying business records.
The Hush Money case stems from an attempt to buy the silence of adult film actor Stormy Daniels. She alleged that the former President paid her $130,000 before the 2016 Presidential elections to stay quiet about a one-night stand, which happened in 2006. Trump went on to defeat Hillary Clinton in the 2016 Presidential elections and became the 45th president of the United States.
The money he paid to Daniels, through his lawyer Cohen, was recorded as a legal expense. Trump was accused of 34 counts of falsifying business records and found guilty on all charges.
Navratilova joked about waking up, singing about Donald Trump being a felon.
"I woke up this morning singing to myself For he’s a jolly good felon, he’s a jolly good felon he’s a jolly good feloooon, which nobody can deny etc etc," she wrote.
This decision is a historic one as Trump became the first US president to be convicted on criminal charges. The sentence of the case will be pronounced on July 11. This case would not stop his presidential aspirations as the US Constitution does not bar people with convictions from contesting elections.
Martina Navratilova: "About time karma caught up with that criminal"
Martina Navratilova has always expressed her political opinions on her social media. Recently, she called out some X (formerly Twitter) users for supporting Donald Trump amid the ongoing controversy.
A fan asked her not to 'be like this'.
"Dont be like this Martina, you are above this," a user commented.
The American brought to light that Trump was a criminal and wrote:
"No I am not. About time karma caught up with that criminal."
Another user, in support of Trump, wrote:
"I think they call that TDS."
Navratilova marveled at the fact that the user still supported the former president even after he was charged.
"Yet you still support him… ok then:)," Navratilova replied.
Navratilova retired from tennis in 2006 after a glorious career spanning more than three decades. She won a record 167 titles in her career including, 18 Grand Slams in singles, 31 in women's doubles, and 10 in mixed doubles.
