Ellen Perez expressed disgust at a person hoping for Danielle Collins to remain 'childless' after the American's wild celebration during her second-round win at the 2025 Australian Open. Collins defeated home favorite Dastanee Aiava 7-6(4), 4-6, 6-2.
Collins was engaged in a back-and-forth exchange with the crowd throughout the match but truly enraged them when she celebrated her win by cupping her hand to the ear, blowing a kiss to the crowd, and giving them the 'Kiss my a**' gesture. Many tennis fans complained about her behavior on X (formerly Twitter), while some defended her as well.
Here's a look at her celebration:
Interstingly, Australian tennis player Ellen Perez seemingly enjoyed the 31-year-old's celebration. She tweeted:
"Danielle Collins post match celebration is one for the books."
However, a user, named Doris, responded to Perez's tweet by calling the American disgusting and hoping she remained 'childless'.Collins, who has expressed her desire to start a family, has had to deal with health issues that postponed her retirement.
"She is a disgusting 🗑️🤡 should have retired but all she does is lie and cheat! hopefully she stays childless," the fan said.
Ellen Perez was appalled by Doris' comments and lashed out at her calling her 'A part of the problem'. The Aussie said they should be 'ashamed' of their rude behavior, even if the American was a "terrible" person.
"Doris you wishing hate and punishment on someone is disgusting and makes you yourself a total Karen. Even if someone is a terrible person you should never stoop to a level to hate someone or you are part of the problem. You should be ashamed of how rude you also are," Perez wrote.
However, their heated exchange didn't end there.
"At no point am I 'supporting' her" - Ellen Perez clarifies her stance on the Danielle Collins situation
The user, Doris, continued their scathing attack on Danielle Collins, claiming that the 31-year-old should have quit tennis and also called Ellen Perez out for 'supporting' her behavior.
"She herself is hating players and you support this in thinking her trash behavior is funny! the liar should have retired as she said but some love attention too much," the user wrote.
Perez clarified that she wasn't 'supporting' Collins and just enjoyed her celebration. The Aussie also quipped how Doris loved spreading hate.
"Again because clearly you can’t read… at no point am I ‘supporting’ her. You can’t actually tell which side I’m taking. I’m just laughing at the celebration and saying it’s going in the history books. You should retire from twitter though but some just love dishing hate too much," Perez responded.
During a post-match interview, Danielle Collins admitted that she received motivation while playing in front of hostile crowds. She said she was somebody who needed a bit of fire under her a**.
