Novak Djokovic congratulated Carlos Alcaraz for an excellent Olympic campaign after their gold medal match at the Paris Olympics 2024. He also joked about the Spaniard playing many more Olympics.

Djokovic defeated Alcaraz in a highly enthralling final with the scoreline reading 7-6(3), 7-6(2). The Serb edged past the four-time Grand Slam champion to clinch his first-ever Olympic gold medal. With this, he joined Steffi Graf, Andre Agassi, Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams, in completing the Career Golden Slam.

After the match, the Serb gave a 'shoutout' to Alcaraz for his campaign in an Instagram post. He also joked that considering the Spaniard's age and fitness, he could go on to appear in 20 more Olympics. He added that Alcaraz would definitely win a gold medal in the future.

"A quick shoutout to @carlitosalcarazz. Another epic final, my friend. El clasico. Congratulations to you and your team for an excellent Olympics. Considering your age, your energy, and the way you play, you probably have 20 more Olympics ahead of you 😆. Your gold will come. Until next time, amigo (friend)," Djokovic wrote in the caption.

Alcaraz thanked the Serb for his appreciation, adding that he was eagerly waiting for their next encounter.

"Thank you titan! Can’t wait to the next one," Alcaraz replied.

Novak Djokovic spoke about his future and wanting to give back to tennis in a press conference after winning the gold medal at Paris Olympics 2024. The Serb said that even though he has won every tournament, his love for the sport has not diminished and he still loved to train and improve.

"I know that I have already won all the big tournaments, but I still love this sport, I love competing, training day after day, continuing to improve and taking care of my body," he said.

The 24-time Grand Slam champion also said that he was unsure about his future, adding that he would do his best to give back to tennis, as the sport meant a lot to him.
