Danielle Collins' celebration after winning her second round at the 2025 Australian Open has sparked polarizing views from tennis fans. The American was having a back-and-forth with the Melbourne crowd throughout the match and her celebration led to a cacophony of boos.

Collins faced home favorite Destanee Aiava and it is no surprise that the crowd was backing the latter. The American gave a flying kiss to the crowd after winning the first set, however, Aiava clinched the second set taking the match into a decider. Collins won the match 7-6(4), 4-6, 6-2.

Danielle Collins wildly celebrated by putting her hand to her ear amid a roar of boos and blowing a flying kiss to the crowd. However, there didn't seem to be a problem between Aiava and her during the handshake.

Fans didn't take too kindly to the 31-year-old's celebration on X (formerly Twitter). One fan said Collins exhibited 'Zero class' during the entire situation.

"Does Danielle Collins not realise she's playing an Australian in Australia? What does she expect the crowd to do? They're going to support the home player. Get over it. Zero class from Collins tonight," the fan opined.

Another fan dubbed Collins as,

"The most insufferable person on tour istg," the fan dubbed.

"I think it's even too much for Collins It's so embarrassing reaction from her," a fan said,

"How old is she again?? 14???" a fan questioned.

"LMFAOOO danielle collins maybe win a slam before you act like a fuckwit after beating an Aussie qualifier who took a set off you. That was an embarrassing reaction," another fan wrote.

However, many jumped to Danielle Collins' defense and called out the Aussie crowd.

"Karen Collins (understandably) snapping at some hecklers in the crowd and Aiava being cheered even more lustily after every point she wins," a fan said.

Australian crowds are total sh*tholes!! Still remember them heckling her when she played Barty & how they broke Daniil too being really cruel towards him too!! Not Danielle’s fault if she gives it back to complete aholes!! GOOD ON HER!!" a fan opined.

Collins will look to take her mind off this incident as she faces a very dangerous opponent, who she knows very well, next.

10th seed Danielle Collins will face her compatriot Madison Keys in the third round of the Australian Open, in what will be the fourth meeting between the two women. Keys narrowly leads their head-to-head 2-1. During her fiery on-court interview, the 10th seed opened up about playing her friend,

"Maddie and I go back to like, 10 years old being pen pals. Obviously, (I) have known her for a good portion of my life, so, looking forward to playing a great match."

19th seed Keys kicked off her campaign with a straight-set win over Ann Li following which scored a topsy-turvy 7-6(1), 2-6, 7-5 win against Elena-Gabriela Ruse.

The winner of the match will play Elena Rybakina or Dayana Yastremska next.
