Zheng Qinwen, after $20.6 million-earning 2024 season, has tennis school named after her in China

Zheng Qinwen, who made tremendous strides in tennis last year, now has a tennis school named after her in China. The Chinese superstar has given the sport a huge boost in popularity in her nation owing to her massive success.

Zheng reached the final of the Australian Open to kick off her year. She proved her mettle for the rest of the season with some staggering results, the most notable being becoming the first Asian to win the Olympic gold in singles. She also reached the summit clash of the WTA Finals, which helped her break into the Top 5 of the rankings.

Zheng Qinwen's impact on the court is bearing results as according to Titan Sports, the most circulated sports newspaper in China, the rising superstar now has a school named after her, called the Queen Wen Wuhan Qiseng Grand Slam Tennis School, in China. Queen Wen, as called adorably by her fans, is a play on her name Qinwen.

"The Wuhan Municipal Sports Bureau's signed a three-party cooperation agreement with Zheng Qinwen's representative to establish the Queen Wen Wuhan Qisheng Grand Slam Tennis School at the Wuhan Municipal Sports School. Zheng Qinwen's father, Zheng Jianping, unveiled the school and will take charge."

The 22-year-old has become a superstar in China, which helped her become the fourth highest-paid female athlete in 2024 earning a staggering $20.6 million. She was behind Coco Gauff, Eileen Gu, and Iga Swiatek.

Qinwen was chosen the Fan Favorite Singles Player at the WTA Awards this year.

Zheng Qinwen was slated to compete at the 2025 United Cup to kick off her 2025 season, however, she took to Instagram to announce that she would be delaying her season's start since she needed more time to recuperate from the previous season.

"After the long season that 2024 was for me, I need a few extra weeks of rest, recovery, and good training to get ready for the new season," she posted. "I had such a fantastic time at the United Cup in January of this year, and therefore will miss the event greatly. Still, I am so excited to be back in Australia soon and I will see you all in Melbourne in a couple of weeks."

The World No. 5 will look to set her sights on the Australian Open next. She was comfortably defeated 3-6, 2-6 by Aryna Sabalenka in the final last year.
