Nike have made an overwhelming gesture by having a life sized statue of French Open Champion Rafael Nadal made purely out of Red Clay, which symbolizes Nadal’s domination on the surface over the years. As per the tweet which was posted on his account , the life sized statue is made out of the clay which is essentially what is used on the Roland Garros courts. The clay is made of crushed bricks and makes the game slower than it is on the grass surface.
The statue was unveiled two days after he defeated Djokovic in 4 sets to retain his French Open crown. The World number one won his ninth French Open title and this was his fifth in a row. This statue will appear on the window of the Cinquième Set store in Paris. It is accompanied by a plaque which reads: “Legends are made from different stuff”.
Nadal took to Twitter to thank Nike for a small video compilation which they presented after his triumph.
