Daria Kasatkina vs Mirra Andreeva preview
Daria Kasatkina and Mirra Andreeva are set to lock horns in an all-Russian clash in the Ningbo Open final on Sunday, October 20.
Seeded fifth in Ningbo this week, Kasatkina received a walkover into the second round after Ana Bondar withdrew before their opener. Up against Katerina Siniakova next, she battled back emphatically from a set down to secure a 1-6, 6-3, 6-2 victory.
Kasatkina endured another grueling three-set challenge in the quarterfinals, overcoming Yulia Putintseva 6-3, 1-6, 7-6(6). In the semifinals, the 27-year-old won the first set 6-4 against Paula Badosa, who later retired due to dizziness, granting her a place in the final.
Andreeva has been in outstanding form throughout the week, advancing to the final without dropping a set. She opened with a dominant 6-2, 6-0 win over Varvara Lepchenko, followed by a comfortable 6-0, 6-4 victory against Tamara Korpatsch in the second round.
In the quarterfinals, Andreeva faced fourth seed Barbora Krejcikova, winning 7-6(5), 3-2 after the latter was forced to retire due to a back injury. She was the beneficiary of another walkover after Karolina Muchova retired during their semifinal match while trailing 2-6, 0-1.

Daria Kasatkina vs Mirra Andreeva prediction
Kasatkina has had a solid week, showcasing a versatile baseline game with a wide array of shots from all around the court. While her serving has been average, her aggressive returns and dominance in the longer rallies have been key to her success.
Mirra Andreeva, in contrast, is playing some of the best tennis of her career in Ningbo and appears poised to go the distance. Like Kasatkina, her return game has been solid, with an impressive break-point conversion rate. Her backhand, in particular, has been her standout weapon this week.
Kasatkina enters the final with relatively better numbers on hard courts this season, also reaching her sixth WTA 500 final in 2024. She has, however, won only one of those five title matches, which may give Andreeva a psychological edge.
Andreeva, primarily successful on clay, is set to play her first WTA 500 final. After claiming her maiden WTA title earlier this year, she could be on her way to a second if she maintains her winning momentum.
As the two Russians prepare to face off for the first time, Andreeva's current form and winning streak make her the likely favorite in what promises to be a thrilling summit clash in Ningbo.
Pick: Andreeva to win in three sets.
