The semifinalists of Wimbledon 2024 are set, with Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic, Lorenzo Musetti, and Daniil Medvedev making up the elite four. However, the young Spaniard, who's the defending champion as well, is the odd man out for one reason.
Alcaraz is the only one in the semifinal line-up who isn't a father. Djokovic, Musetti, and Medvedev have all embraced parenthood, with the Italian being the latest member of the club. Usually one would expect them to be in the same age group but not in this case as all three of them belong to different decades.
All players who have kids during their playing days definitely want to win something big in front of them. It doesn't get any bigger than vying to reach the championship round of Wimbledon. On that note, here's everything to know at about the children of this year's men's singles semifinalists:
Novak Djokovic's children Stefan and Tara
Djokovic and his wife Jelena had first their child, Stefan, in October 2014. The couple were next blessed with a daughter, Tara, in 2017. The kids are often seen cheering on for him in the stands, and have witnessed their father break numerous records over the years.
While Djokovic's kids have shown in interest in tennis, it's not for sure if they will follow in their father's footsteps just yet. The Serb enjoyed a practice session with his children ahead of his semifinal clash at Wimbledon, and the trio were joined by Alcaraz as well.
Daniil Medvedev and his daughter Alisa
Medvedev and his wife Daria had their first and so far only, child, Alisa, in October 2022. While the tiny tot has occasionally been spotted in her father's player box, she's still too young to understand the magnitude of his achievements.
In between tournaments, Medvedev makes sure to spend quality time with his daughter. He was spotted enjoying some downtown with his family in Florida earlier this year. The Russian is also keen on having more kids in the future, and little Alisa could soon have some company.
Lorenzo Musetti and his son, Ludovico
Musetti and his partner Veronica Confalonieri recently welcomed their first child, Ludovico, in March 2024. At just 22 years of age, the Italian has entered fatherhood earlier than most of his peers in the sport.
Nevertheless, Musetti has embraced parenthood head on. It has certainly improved his results for the better as well as he's into his maiden Grand Slam semifinal at Wimbledon.
