The third day of main draw action at the 2023 Open 13 Provence in Marseille on Wednesday (February 22) will feature two Round of 32 and three Round of 16 matches.
On Tuesday, the likes of Gijs Brouwer, Gregoire Barrere and Maxime Cressy emerged victorious, beating Elias Ymer, Marc-Andrea Huesler and Geoffrey Blancaneaux, respectively.
Without further ado, here's a look at how the five singles matches at the Open 13 Provence on Wednesday could pan out:
#1 Round of 16: Maxime Cressy vs Benjamin Bonzi (2022 Open 13 Provence semifinalist)
Fifth seed Maxime Cressy will take on Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi for a place in the Open 13 Provence quarterfinals.
The 37th-ranked Cressy is 7-4 for the season after seeing off another Frenchman (Geoffrey Blancaneaux) in his opener. Meanwhile, World No. 60 Bonzi is 6-6 in 2023, having made the Pune final and Australian Open third round last month.
The two players haven't met before, but expect the Montpellier finalist to take this one.
Prediction: Cressy in three sets.
#2 Round of 32: Arthur Fils vs Roman Safiullin
Wildcard Arthur Fils will take on Roman Safiullin in the first of two Round of 32 matches at the Open 13 Provence on Wednesday.
World No. 118 Fils is 3-1 in 2023, while the 97th-ranked Safiullin is 1-2. The pair have never met before, but the Montpellier semifinalist is likely to prevail.
Prediction: Fils in three sets.
#3 Round of 16: Alexander Bublik vs Gregoire Barrere
Alexander Bublik will take on Frenchman Gregoire Barrere for a place in the Open 13 Provence quarterfinals.
The 50th-ranked Bublik finally got off the mark for the season at the ninth time of asking, beating Filip Krajinovic in his opener. Meanwhile, World No. 58 Barrere improved to 5-4 in 2023 after seeing off Huesler in the first round.
Barrere has taken two of the pair's three previous meetings, including one in Montpellier two weeks ago. Bublik, though, should win this one.
Prediction: Bublik in straight sets.
#4 Round of 16: Richard Gasquet vs Stan Wawrinka
Frenchman Richard Gasquet will take on Switzerland's Stan Wawrinka in a battle of single-handers on Wednesday.
World No. 43 Gasquet improved to 6-4 in 2023 after beating compatriot Laurent Lokoli in the first round. Meanwhile, the 105th-ranked Wawrinka is 5-4 on the season after beating Zizou Bergs in his opener.
Gasquet leads the pair's head-to-head 3-2 but lost their last meeting in the Rotterdam Round of 16 last week. Wawrinka should emerge triumphant again.
Prediction: Wawrinka in straight sets.
#5 Round of 32: Mikael Ymer vs Radu Albot
Mikael Ymer will face Radu Albot in his Open 13 Provence opener in Marseille on Wednesday.
The 69th-ranked Ymer is 4-5 on the season, while World No. 99 Albot is 4-3. The pair haven't locked horns on tour before, but Albot should win this one.
Prediction: Albot in three sets.
