London - After his protégé and former champion Rafael Nadal was ousted in the Wimbledon men’s singles first round, his coach and uncle Toni Nadal turned into a waiter here today.
Nadal was seen handing out coffee to spectators at the All England Club.
“I cannot make my work as coach (since Rafael lost). I have no player here, so I’m a waiter now. So I serve coffee, (which) is my new work,” a joking Nadal, who was accompanied by another coach, Judy Murray, mother of London Olympic champion Andy Murray, was quoted as saying by wimbledon.com.
World No.2 Rafael Nadal was taken out by Steve Darcis of Belgium in the first round Monday, causing the biggest upset of the tournament.
