Alexander Zverev vs Lorenzo Musetti preview
Germany's Alexander Zverev will square off against Italy's Lorenzo Musetti in the quarterfinals of the Paris Olympics 2024.
Zverev kicked off his title defense at the Olympics with an easy 6-2, 6-2 win over Spain's Jaume Munar. He then beat Czechia's Tomas Machac 6-3, 7-5 to reach the third round, where he faced Australia's Alexei Popyrin.
Zverev went down a break to trail 3-1 in the first set. It took him some time but he he managed to regroup. He stopped Popyrin from serving out the set as he went on a four-game run to snatch the set from his opponent's grasp.
The second set was more routine. Zverev secured a break of serve at the start to go 3-0 up. He held on to the lead until the end of the match to register a 7-5, 6-3 win.
Musetti beat France's Gael Monfils 6-1, 6-4 in his opener, and followed it up with a 7-6 (2), 6-3 win over Argentina's Mariano Navone. He was up against USA's Taylor Fritz in the third round.
The American raced to a 4-1 lead in the opening set but Musetti turned the tables on him as he swept the next five games to take the set. The two remained unshakeable on serve for most of the second set. However, the Italian snagged a break in the 11th game to go 6-5 up. He served out the match in the next game to score a 6-4, 7-5 win.

Alexander Zverev vs Lorenzo Musetti prediction
Both players are in good form this week and are yet to drop a set. The two won their third-round matches similarly, having staged a comeback in the first set and then taking the lead in the next.
Musetti has kept Italy's hopes of a medal alive in the absence of the top-ranked Jannik Sinner. Zverev, meanwhile, extended his unbeaten run at the Olympics to nine matches with his win over Popyrin.
The two couldn't complete their prior and only encounter as Musetti was forced to throw in the towel due to an injury. The Italian has been in great form for the past two months, with 18 of his 29 wins this season coming since the start of June.
Zverev has been consistent all year and has amassed an impressive 47-13 record for the season, going 23-5 on clay as well. Despite Musetti's recent surge, the German will be backed to win this contest due to his year-round success.
Pick: Alexander Zverev to win in three sets.
