Iga Swiatek vs Wang Xiyu preview
Poland's Iga Swiatek will face China's Wang Xinyu in the third round of the Paris Olympics 2024.
Swiatek was drawn against Romania's Irina-Camelia Begu in the first round. After winning the first set comfortably, she rallied from a break down in the second set to win the match 6-2, 7-5.
After a tricky encounter against Begu, Swiatek was back to her dominating best in the second round. The World No. 1 secured an easy 6-1, 6-1 win over France's Diane Parry to reach the third round of the Olympics for the first time.
Wang beat Czechia's Linda Noskova 6-3, 6-3 to set up a second-round showdown with Diana Shnaider. The latter had won a title on clay at the Hungarian Open in the lead-up to the Paris Olympics.
The pair traded service breaks to start the match, after which they remained steady on serve over the next few games. Wang upped the ante later on as she went on a four-game run to take the first set. She cruised through the rest of the match, dropping only one game in the next set for a 6-3, 6-1 win.

Iga Swiatek vs Wang Xiyu prediction
Swiatek needed a little over an hour to dispatch Parry in the previous round. While she was tested a bit by Begu before that, it was mainly because they were playing under a closed roof. With the weather not being a factor from here on out, it will be quite difficult to stop the Pole.
The French Open courts have become Swiatek's fortress over the last few years. She recently claimed her third consecutive title at the venue and won the Italian Open and the Madrid Open before that as well. She's currently on a 21-match winning streak on clay to boot.
Swiatek eased past Wang en route to the Madrid title a few months ago in their previous and only encounter so far. While the conditions there allowed the latter to nab five games back then, she's unlikely to win that many this time.
The relatively slow conditions in Paris play up to Swiatek's strengths. The Pole usually makes light work of her opponents on Court Philippe-Chatrier, and Wang is likely to receive the same treatment as well.
Pick: Iga Swiatek to win in straight sets.
