The Championships - Wimbledon 2013: Day Thirteen

London - British Prime Minister David Cameron said that it was a privilege to see compatriot Andy Murray win the men’s singles Wimbledon title here on Sunday.

World No.2 Murray became the first British male to win the title at the All England Club since Fred Perry, who last won in 1936, ending a 77-year wait for the British. Murray beat Serbia’s World No.1 Novak Djokovic 6-4, 7-5, 6-4 in three hours and nine minutes.

Cameron, who was watching the final from the Royal Box of the Centre Court and jumped out of his seat in excitement when the 26-year-old Murray won the championship point.

Murray had also won the 2012 Olympic gold here after losing the Wimbledon title last year to Swiss Roger Federer.
