Jack Draper vs Mariano Navone preview
Home favorite Jack Draper will face Mariano Navone in the first round of the 2024 Cinch Championships on Tuesday (June 18).
Draper started the year by reaching his second career final at the Adelaide International but lost to Jiri Lehecka in three sets. After a few early exits, he made the semifinal of the Mexican Open, though an injury forced him while trailing Alex de Minaur 4-0 in the third set.
The Brit struggled for the next two months as aside from a quarterfinal at the BMW Open in Munich, his results were subpar. He concluded his clay swing on a three-match losing streak, including a first-round exit from the French Open.
Draper commenced his grass season at last week's Boss Open in Stuttgart. He knocked out Sebastian Ofner, Marcos Giron, Frances Tiafoe, and Brandon Nakashima to reach his second final of the season. He took on Matteo Berrettini for the title, and rallied from a set down to claim his maiden career title.
Competing in his first full season on the ATP tour, Navone has already cracked the top 30 of the rankings with his results. He won the Rio Open in February, and reached another final in Bucharest.
However, Navone faltered at the tour's biggest clay events. He failed to make it past the second round of the Madrid Open, the Italian Open, and the French Open. He will now contest his first match on grass at the ATP level.
Jack Draper vs Mariano Navone head-to-head
This will be the first career meeting between them, so the head-to-head stands at 0-0 for now.

Jack Draper vs Mariano Navone prediction
After frequent injury troubles, Draper finally had his moment in the sun by winning his first tour-level title in Stuttgart. He served well the entire week, and was consistent with his shotmaking from the back of the court as well.
Navone has played exclusively on clay this season, so it remains to be seen how he will perform in his grass court debut. Naturally, he's the underdog against an opponent who has just won a title on the surface. Aside from his inexperience on grass, he's also in the midst of a rough patch, having won only one of his last four matches.
Draper will be keen to continue the momentum and please the home crowd with a win in London. It would also set up a likely second-round showdown against World No. 2 and defending champion Carlos Alcaraz. Given his current form, getting the better of Navone should be an easy task for the young Brit.
Pick: Jack Draper to win in straight sets.
