Taylor Fritz vs Milos Raonic preview
Fourth seed Taylor Fritz will square off against Milos Raonic in the second round of the 2024 Cinch Championships on Wednesday.
Following a career-best clay swing, Fritz arrived in London to begin his grass season, and took on Taro Daniel in the first round here. The American dealt the first blow in the opening set as he broke his opponent's serve in the sixth game to go 4-2 up.
Fritz consolidated the break with a hold of serve, and maintained his lead to nab the set. The two remained on even footing until halfway through the second set, after which the American went on a four-game run to score a 6-3, 6-3 win.
Raonic, meanwhile, was up against home favorite Cameron Norrie in his opener. Neither player conceded any ground on their own serve, leading to a tie-break. The Brit narrowly edged out his older rival to take a one-set lead.
Raonic surged ahead in the second set thanks to an early break, and kept his nose in front until the end to claim the set. Neither player gained any ground on the other's serve in the third set, leading to yet another tie-break.
The tie-break was a tense affair, as each player let go of a couple of match points. Raonic finally got the job done on his third match point to wrap up a 6-7 (6), 6-3, 7-6 (9) comeback win.

Taylor Fritz vs Milos Raonic prediction
Raonic once again proved why he still has one of the best serves in the business even after all these years. He blasted a total of 47 aces during his win over Norrie, and set a new record for most aces hit in a three-set match as well.
Fritz, on the other hand, didn't encounter enough resistance against Daniel. The American had a pretty good day on serve himself, as he hit 13 aces and won 84 percent of his first serve points.
If Raonic's serve fires on all cylinders once again, then Fritz could find himself on the backfoot. However, the American will try to prolong the points in order to expose his opponent's relatively poor court coverage, and capitalize on that.
Raonic has also lost all three of his matches against top-20 players this season. Even though the Canadian remains a huge threat on grass, Fritz is in great form at the moment and should be able to advance further.
Pick: Taylor Fritz to win in three sets.
