In his 600th professional match on tour, then nine-time Grand Slam champion Federer faced Spain's Guillermo Garcia-Lopez in the second round at 2006 Basel.
In a dominant performance, the Swiss dropped only two games to see off Garcia-Lopez with a minimum of fuss. A few days later, Federer beat Fernando González to lift his first title in his hometown tournament.
Match #700, Miami 2008 quarterfinal: Lost to Andy Roddick
In his 700th professional singles match, Federer faced familiar rival Andy Roddick for the 17th time, in the 2008 Miami quarterfinal.
In a competitive three-set match, Federer fell to Roddick 6-7(4) 6-4 3-6, to suffer his first defeat in 13 matches against the big-serving American.
It wouldn't be the first time Federer would fall to Roddick in Miami. Four years later, the pair met for the 24th and final time on tour - where Roddick ran out a victor in three sets for only his 3rd triumph against his Swiss rival.
Match #800, French Open 2009 2nd round: Beat José Acasuso
In his 11th consecutive appearance at Roland Garros, Federer faced José Acasuso in the 2009 second round.
Federer took the opening set in a tiebreak but Acasuso fought back to take the second set 7-5. The Swiss maestro re-asserted his ascendancy in the match by taking the third set via another tiebreak, and closed out a four-set win to move into the third round.
Five matches and five wins later, Federer would celebrate his lone title triumph in Roland Garros to complete a coveted career Grand Slam.
Match #900, Stockholm 2010 2nd round: Beat Taylor Dent
In his 900th match on tour, Federer faced Taylor Dent in the second round at Stockholm.
Federer dropped only two games in an imperious performance against his big-serving opponent, to move into the quarterfinals in the Swedish capital.
It was Federer's first appearance in Stockholm (second overall) in 10 years (also 2000); the Swiss would go on to mark the occasion with title #64.
Match #1000, Australian Open 2012 quarterfinal: Beat Juan Martin Del Potro
Federer marked his 1,000th professional singles match on tour with a straight-sets victory over Juan Martin del Potro in the quarterfinals of the 2012 Australian Open.
In a breezy outing in Melbourne, Federer ran out a 6-4 6-3 6-2 victor to improve to 10-2 in his head-to-head against the Argentinian, and reach a 9th consecutive semifinal Down Under.
The win improved Federer's overall match wins record on tour to 814-186 (81.4%).
