After slipping to seventh spot in the world rankings, the lowest ranking the Swiss has reached since 2002, Roger Federer has parted ways with his coach of more than three years, Paul Annacone.

Federer said on his website, “After numerous conversations culminating at the end of our most recent training block, we felt like this was the best time and path for both of us,”

Their primary goal when they got together was for Federer to win one more Grand Slam and reclaim the top spot in the rankings. He had achieved both in 2012 when he won Wimbledon and went to the top of the rankings in the process.

The 17-time Grand Slam winner also said, “Paul remains a dear friend. I want to thank Paul for his help and the value he has added to me and my team.”
