Singapore, Oct 25 (IANS) Indo-Zimbabwean women's doubles tennis combine Sania Mirza and Cara Black came back from three match points down to defeat Czech-Slovenian pair of Kveta Peschke and Katarina Srebotnik 4-6, 7-5, 11-9 to enter the summit clash of the WTA Finals here Saturday. Trailing Kveta and Katarina 6-9 in the deciding super tie-break, Sania and Cara's hopes of lifting the title in their final tournament together looked to be fading. However, the third seeds displayed nerves of steel to win the next five points and book their place in the final.
"It's crazy! We're just trying to stay in the moment. With these super tie-breaks that's what happens. Everyone's tight, everyone wants to win so badly. At 6-9, we were only down one break of serve so I just knew I had to get my first serves in and see what we could do," World No.6 Sania was quoted as saying by wtafinals.com.
After taking the opening set, the unseeded pair looked on course to spring an upset when they then fought back from 3-5 down in the second. However, the third seeds had other ideas, breaking once more to force the super tie-break.
In the final, the third seeds will take on second seeds Peng Shuai (China) and Hsieh Su-Wei (Chinese Taipei) Sunday.
Last month, Cara and Sania had announced that the season finale would be their last tournament together.
