It was a surreal streak, but like all of them, there needs to be a finishing point to it. That halt arrived for Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis on Friday when their sensational run of 41 consecutive victories was brought to an end by the pairing of Elena Vesnina and Daria Kasatkhina in the quarterfinals of the Qatar Open.
The All-Russian pair inflicted a 2-6 6-4 10-5 loss on the Indo-Swiss pair, thereby bringing to an end a spate of victories that began in August at the Cincinnati Masters.

Just like at they did at the Rod laver Arena, the pair will certainly look to win their maiden French Open title in a few months time in Paris.
