22nd seed Sebastian Korda will square off against home favorite Aleksandar Vukic in the second round of the Australian Open 2025.

Korda commenced his run in Melbourne against Lukas Klein. The American raced to a 4-1 lead in the first set thanks to an early break and remained in front until the end of the set to take it. His opponent bounced back in style and claimed the second set without dropping a single game in it.
Korda was quick to regroup after a disappointing second set. He broke his opponent's serve twice to go 3-0 up, and while he gave up part of his lead, Klein couldn't recoup the deficit completely. He snagged another break of serve in the final game of the set to clinch it.
Klein was the only one who had break-point chances in the fourth set, which he failed to convert. The set eventually went to a tie-break, in which Korda gained the upper hand to secure a 6-3, 0-6, 6-3, 7-6 (6) win.
Vukic took on Damir Dzumhur in his opener here. The Aussie lost a closely contested first set after coming up short in the tie-break. He dished out a bagel to grab the second set, only to find himself on the backfoot once again after losing the third set.
Vukic went down a break to start the fourth set but that marked the beginning of his comeback. He swept the next five games, and while he failed to close out the set on his first attempt, he got the job done on his second try. The two were evenly matched in the decider until the Australian made one last push with a three-game run to wrap up a 6-7 (3), 6-0, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 comeback win.

Vukic looked down and out until he turned the tables on Dzumhur. He won 75 percent of points on his first serve and struck 60 winners compared to 64 unforced errors.
Vukic won his previous and only match against Korda two years ago. Now that they're playing in his backyard, he could one-up the American once again with the support of the home crowd.
However, Korda has started the year strongly and was the runner-up at last week's Adelaide International. Given his form, he should be able to get the better of Vukic this time.
