Denis Shapovalov vs Constant Lestienne preview
Former World No. 10 Denis Shapovalov will take on Constant Lestienne in the qualifiers of the Serbia Open on Saturday.
Shapovalov had had an ordinary season so far, notching third-round appearances at the Wimbledon Championships and the French Open. He reached the quarterfinals of the Citi Open in Washington and the Swiss Indoors in Basel.
The Canadian looked in excellent touch at the Swiss Indoors event last month. He defeated Juncheng Shang and Roberto Bautista Agut in the first two rounds, but couldn't make his mark against Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in the quarterfinals. The Frenchman outlasted Shapovalov in a three-set match 6-7(7), 6-3, 7-6(3).
Constant Lestienne, meanwhile, has played most of his tennis on the ATP Challenger circuit this year. He reached the second round of the BNP Paribas Open, which was his best result on the main tour.
The Frenchman will enter Belgrade on the back of a quarterfinal exit in the Bratislava 2 Challenger. He started his campaign by cruising past Laslo Djere and Mikhail Kukushkin in the opening two rounds but came up short against Kei Nishikori in the quarterfinals. The former World No. 4 outfoxed Lestienne in three sets, 6-3, 5-7, 6-2.

Denis Shapovalov vs Constant Lestienne prediction
Denis Shapovalov looked sharp on his return at the Swiss Indoors in Basel but lost to Mpetshi Perricard in a close encounter. The Canadian will need to take the positives from his recent campaign and follow up with another strong result in the Serbia Open. A clinical run at this stage could do wonders for his confidence on the main tour.
Lestienne, on the contrary, has put in the hard yards to make an impression at the highest level. He still needs to improve his game to challenge the top 100 players in the world and compete for important titles on tour. The Frenchman has a steady all-around game and decent groundstrokes off both wings.
Shapovalov will be a clear favorite to come out on top in the first qualification round of the Serbia Open. He's chalked up promising results on the main tour this year and is poised to make a valuable contribution. The Canadian will be up against a tricky customer in Lestienne, but shouldn't have too many problems navigating past this challenge in qualification rounds.
Pick: Denis Shapovalov to win in straight sets.
