Alycia Parks vs Maya Joint preview
Two players whose promising starts to the 2025 season were derailed by early exits at the Australian Open, Alycia Parks and Maya Joint, will look to hit the restart button as they clash at the Singapore Open.
Parks failed to defend her third-round run in Melbourne. She lost her opener to Miriam Bjorklund in unremarkable fashion, winning just five games.
The American will be hoping to rediscover the form that saw her make the semifinals at the ASB Classic. She beat big names including Amanda Anisimova and Katie Volynets before falling to Naomi Osaka.
Joint, meanwhile, continues to make waves in her young career. She was given a few wildcard opportunities Down Under and made the best of it by beating the likes of Magda Linette and Sofia Kenin en-route to the Hobart semifinal.
The 18-year-old could not bring the same form to her home Slam, losing in straight sets to third seed Jessica Pegula. She has, however, given a good account of herself in the opening month of the new season.
Alycia Parks vs Maya Joint head-to-head
Parks leads Joint in their current head-to-head 1-0, having beaten her opponent in the final of the WTA125K event at Kozerki Open last year.

Alycia Parks vs Maya Joint prediction
Alycia Parks is known to blow hot and cold between matches but possess a few weapons, her serve in particular, that make her a dangerous opponent.
The American likes to play an aggressive brand of tennis and will look to take control of the rallies from the back court. Maya Joint, however, has shown her own baseline prowess over the last few months as well.
An intriguing battle could well be brewing from the baseline. Joint’s backhand is particularly impressive and she can put some pressure on her opponent off that wing, but she has not played too many indoor matches on Tour so far.
The indoor conditions will also accentuate Parks’ serve. With 35 aces, the American is already among the top three on this year’s list. If she can keep up the numbers in that department, she could well fend off the teenager’s charge.
Prediction: Parks to win in three sets
