Emma Raducanu vs Cristina Bucsa preview
The opening round of the 2025 Singapore Open will have Emma Radcanu take on Cristina Bucsa in an intriguing encounter on Monday.
Raducanu, the seventh seed at this year’s tournament, comes into Singapore having made the third round at the Australian Open. She scored solid wins over big hitters in Ekaterina Alexandrova and Amanda Anisimova before being bundled out by Iga Swiatek.
The Briton had earlier delayed her start to the 2025 season due to an injury scare, and will be keen on moving past those concerns to improve her 2-1 win-loss record.
Busca, meanwhile, has won only one match in her three tournaments this year. She opened with first-round losses against Anca Todoni and Katerina Siniakova at Brisbane and Adelaide, respectively, before showing some fight at the Australian Open.
The Spaniard’s campaign at the Grand Slam began with a win over Chloe Paquet. She then gave 30th seed Leylah Fernandez but went down in three sets to amount for the 1-3 win-loss.
Emma Raducanu vs Cristina Bucsa head-to-head

Emma Raducanu vs Cristina Bucsa prediction
Given the gulf in the level of experience between the two players, Emma Raducanu will come into the contest as the favorite to win. She will, however, need to wary of her opponent.
Cristina Bucsa has a well-rounded that can trouble even the best on hardcourts. She beat Grand Slam winner Bianca Andreeca at the 2023 Australian en-route to the third round and again showed just what she capable of against Leylah Fernandez this year.
The Spaniard, much like Raducanu, likes to take the groundstrokes and can play a heavy forehand to push opponents onto the backfoot. She is also an accomplished doubles player and has honed her skills in the front court.
For Raducanu, the key will be to assert her dominance from the baseline. She is the better server and the more powerful player off the ground and will need to use that to mount pressure on her opponent, especially off the return as Bucsa does not have the biggest of serves.
The Spaniard is unlikely to go down without a fight but Raducanu, if she can keep her error count in check, should be able to battle her way through this one.
Prediction: Raducanu to win in two tight sets
