Sofia Kenin is an American tennis player, who achieved a career-high singles ranking of No. 4 on March 9, 2020, and is currently ranked No. 49 by the WTA. She has won five singles titles till date, including the 2020 Australian Open, where she defeated Spanish player Garbine Muguruza in three sets in the final. She also reached the French Open final in 2020, where she lost to current No. 1 Iga Swiatek.

Sofia Kenin broke into the WTA top 100 in 2018 as a teenager. She won her first three WTA singles titles in 2019, narrowly missing the top 10 ranking that year. After winning the 2020 Australian Open, she became the youngest American since Serena Williams in 1999 to win a singles major. She was named Most Improved Player of the Year in 2019, and WTA Player of the Year in 2020.

After recognizing their daughter’s tennis potential, Sofia Kenin’s parents helped her train with veteran tennis coach Rick Macci, who coached Kenin for seven years. However, her father was her main coach until 2021. Kenin achieved a career-high ranking of No. 2 in the ITF Junior rankings and made her junior Grand Slam debut in 2014. In 2015, Kenin won the USTA Girls 18s National Championship and earned a wildcard into the main draw of the US Open.
