Great news for Indian tennis. After a wait of 13 long years, Somdev Devvarman became the first Indian Tennis player to qualify for the men’s singles event of the French Open. Somdev beat Adrian Mannarino, 6-4, 6-1 to achieve this superb feat. The match lasted for around 1 hour and 25 minutes. Leander Paes was the first Indian to play in men’s single event in French Open in 1997. Earlier, Somdev played in the main draw at the US Open last year.
