Chennai, Jan 9 (IANS) The American-French tennis pairing of Austin Krajicek and Benoit Paire made sure there would be no Indian presence on the final day of the $425,535 Chennai Open as they defeated local wild card pair Somdev Devvarman and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan in the men's doubles semifinal here on Saturday night.
Krajicek and Paire, who earlier in the day lost the men's singles final to defending champion Stan Wawrinka, took exactly an hour and a half to beat the Indian combine 7-5, 7-6(4) at the SDAT Tennis Stadium.
The winning pair will take on Austrian-French combination of Oliver Marach and Fabrice Martin for the prized trophy on Sunday evening.
Though Somdev and Jeevan broke their opponents twice in the first set, Krajicek and Paire went one better which was enough for them to take home the set.
The second set went to the tie-break where the foreign combine won 7-4.
