After a first-round bye, Danielle Collins will square off against Katerina Siniakova in the second round of the 2024 Internationaux de Strasbourg on Tuesday.

Collins had a slow start to the season, as she underperformed Down Under. She had Iga Swiatek on the ropes at the Australian Open but blew a healthy lead in the third set to lose in the second round.
The Qatar Open proved to be the turning point for Collins, where she made the quarterfinals as a qualifier. She reached the last-eight at the ATX Open, but an injury forced her to retire midway through her match. The American lost to Swiatek once again, this time at the Indian Wells Open.
Collins then wouldn't lose a match for a while, as she bagged back-to-back titles in Miami and Charleston. Aryna Sabalenka snapped her unbeaten run in the fourth round of the Madrid Open. The Belarusian also sent her packing in the semifinals of the Italian Open.
Siniakova, meanwhile, commenced her campaign in Strasbourg against Yulia Putintseva. The Czech dominated the first set, winning without dropping a game. The second set was competitive with both players matching each other shot for shot.
Putintseva rallied from a break down twice to keep herself in contention. She took the lead for the first time in the match after breaking Siniakova's serve in the ninth game to go 5-4 up. It turned out to be a temporary relief, though, as the Czech bagged the next three games for a 6-0, 7-5 win.

After breezing through the first set, Siniakova was made to work by Putintseva but she got over the finish line in the end. While the Czech has thrived in doubles as usual, her results in singles haven't been up to the mark.
Siniakova has a top-10 win this year, as she beat World No. 3 Coco Gauff at the Qatar Open. She went on to lose to Collins after that, though. As for the American, she has been one of the most in-form players in recent weeks.
Collins has gone 20-3 over the last couple of months, with Swiatek and Sabalenka being the only players to beat her. Sabalenka has also been the only player to defeat her on clay this season. Given the American's form, it's difficult to see Siniakova getting past her.
