Jannik Sinner and girlfriend Anna Kalinskaya put an end to ongoing marriage rumors
Jannik Sinner and his girlfriend Anna Kalinskaya recently addressed rumors of a secret marriage that quickly spread online.
The couple, who made their relationship official during this year’s French Open, faced speculation after an Italian magazine reported that Sinner had considered marriage following his win at the US Open. As the pair continued competing in the Asian swing, Italian tabloids fueled the story of their alleged secret wedding, despite no confirmation from either of them.
At a press conference in Shanghai, the Italian tennis star was asked about the rumor, which he promptly denied, calling it false and clarifying that nothing of the sort had occurred.
"It was new also for me, to be honest," Sinner said with a laugh. "No, I didn't ask, and nothing, nothing happened. I just read the details a little bit that it happened after US Open, but it's all false, false news. Thank you."
Kalinskaya also responded to the speculation on her Instagram Story, humorously debunking claims and playfully thanking everyone for their well-wishes. The Russian tennis star added a cheeky touch by including Beyonce's 'Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)' in her post.
"To clarify things about fake rumors: this is not true. Thank you for all your congratulations. False start," Kalinskaya wrote.
Top seed Jannik Sinner will take on either Roberto Carballes Baena or 14th seed Ben Shelton in the Round of 16 on 8 October. Anna Kalinskaya, on the other hand, is competing in the Wuhan Open as a 10th seed.
