Chris Evert reaches out to Elena Rybakina amid shocking allegations surrounding Kazakh and ex-coach Stefano Vukov

Chris Evert has expressed her support for Elena Rybakina following shocking revelations about her relationship with former coach Stefano Vukov after the Kazakh withdrew from the 2024 China Open. Rybakina ended her five-year partnership with Vukov just days before the year's US Open.

In a YouTube interview on 'Tennis Bolshei,' journalist Sonya Tartakova discussed Rybakina's frequent tournament withdrawals and injury issues, suggesting that Vukov's negative behavior may have played a role in her struggles.

"All these difficulties that she faces, she faces because of a lot of very heavy pressure associated with her former coach Vukov. I don't want to say big words, not quite the correct attitude of her mentor towards her. That is, he "ate" her all the time, as people who surrounded Lena say," Tartakova said.

Evert responded to the situation on X (formerly Twitter), sending her best wishes to Rybakina, and expressing hopes for the Kazakh's "healthy" and "happy" return to the sport.

"Wishing Elena the best and hoping she comes back healthy and happy," Evert wrote.

Vukov had often faced criticism from fans and notable tennis figures for his controversial coaching style. Reports also indicated that Vukov has been removed from the WTA coaches list and banned from the Tour.

Serena Williams' ex-coach criticizes Novak Djokovic superfan for his controversial comments on Jannik Sinner

Serena Williams' former coach Rennae Stubbs called out a Novak Djokovic superfan following his controversial remarks about Jannik Sinner. The fan had expressed his dissatisfaction with how Sinner’s doping situation was handled by officials.

Following Sinner’s dedication of his US Open win to his late aunt, the fan posted a now-deleted tweet, questioning the Italian's decision to continue playing tennis while his aunt was gravely ill, suggesting he was prioritizing sponsor obligations.

The post sparked heavy criticism from fans, who condemned his attack on Sinner. Stubbs also chimed in, pointing out that he used to treat her well until she voiced criticism of his favorite player.

"If i had a dollar! also that guy is the epitome of a jock sniffer. He would write to me on twitter so nicely & admiringly, then when i said something about his fav player that he didn’t like, i became enemy #1, the devil. He is a wanna be nobody, who seeks attention on X," Stubbs wrote.

Jannik Sinner expressed a subtle disagreement with Carlos Alcaraz's concerns about the intense ATP tour schedule.

During the Laver Cup, Alcaraz had joked with reporters that the demanding schedule could take a toll on players' health, even saying it might "kill" him and others.

When asked about Alcaraz's comments at his pre-event press conference for the China Open, Sinner acknowledged the lengthy tour but pointed out that players have control over which tournaments they participate in, suggesting that taking time off from certain events for practice is a viable option.

"Yeah, the schedule is quite long obviously these years. But we players, we can still choose what to play and what not to play. Obviously we have some mandatory events, yes. As a player, you can still choose. I think of that," Sinner said.
"It is a very busy schedule this year; there are a lot of tournaments. You don't have to play a tournament. If you want, you can play. If not, you don't play," he added.

Top seed and defending champion Jannik Sinner will take on Nicolas Jarry, while second seed Carlos Alcaraz will face Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in their respective first-round matches on September 26.

YouTuber Karue Sell urges Novak Djokovic's PTPA to address funding shortages in lower-level tennis

Tennis player and YouTuber Karue Sell voiced his concerns about the lack of funding for lower-level tennis after breaking into the ATP Tour's Top 300.

Having returned to the ATP Tour this year following a five-year absence, Sell achieved his best results with semifinal and quarterfinal finishes in four Challenger events. The 30-year-old's success has propelled him to a ranking of World No. 299, and he has recently highlighted the funding challenges faced by players in the lower tiers, urging Novak Djokovic's PTPA to initiate changes.

"Today I broke 300 for the first time. Yet I'd make more money working at McDonald's 😂 I'm ok because of my online work but I feel for my peers. The level is so high now all the way to 400 (at least), go watch a challenger. Tennis outgrew the conventional top 100," Sell wrote.
"Not saying players need to make millions but they are being robbed across the board. Top 50 should make more, 100, 150, 200. There's money. Would love to see some real change here @ptpaplayers. Without a union players have no say. Just shut up and play," he added.

Sell had also criticized the lengthy tennis season, echoing Carlos Alcaraz’s sentiment that the schedule was "going to kill us." The Brazilian argued that the season should conclude after the US Open, describing the 11-month duration as "nuts."
