Aryna Sabalenka secured her sixth WTA 1000 title at the 2024 Cincinnati Open by defeating Jessica Pegula 6-3, 7-5 in the final.

During the trophy presentation, Sabalenka thanked her team, and while acknowledging her boyfriend, Georgios Frangulis, she accidentally referred to him as "boyfriends."

The Belarusian quickly corrected herself, playfully blaming her poor English. The slip-up, however, brought laughter from both Frangulis and the Cincinnati Open crowd.

"Special thank you to my boyfriends... boyfriend, I said 'boyfriends' oh my god, that's my terrible English guys. Thank you to my boyfriend for keeping me happy everyday, thank you," Aryna Sabalenka joked.

Naomi Osaka dismisses second pregnancy rumors

Naomi Osaka has refuted rumors of expecting her second child, while also reflecting on the difficulties she faced during her first pregnancy. After welcoming her daughter Shai in July last year with her partner Cordae, Osaka returned to the tennis court at the 2024 Brisbane International.

Recently, Osaka corrected a TikTok user who believed she was pregnant again, stating that her "traumatic" first pregnancy had influenced her decision not to have more children.

"I just wanna say, I'm not preggos, but if I was, I wouldn't want many more, because giving birth was traumatic. But thank you, though, for your blessings," Naomi Osaka said.

Naomi Osaka is currently preparing for the US Open after failing to qualify for the main draw at the Cincinnati Open. The two-time champion received a wildcard for this year's New York Major.

Bianca Andreescu, Nick Kyrgios, and other tennis stars rally behind Felix Auger-Aliassime following controversial Cincinnati Open defeat

Felix Auger-Aliassime received support from fellow tennis players Nick Kyrgios and Bianca Andreescu, after his controversial 7-5, 4-6, 4-6 loss to Jack Draper in the third round of the 2024 Cincinnati Open.

During a crucial match point, Draper executed a half-volley that seemed to bounce on his side of the court before going over the net. However, the chair umpire gave the point to Draper. This decision was made despite video evidence backing Auger-Aliassime’s assertion that the ball was mishit.

Jessica Pegula pokes fun at Aryna Sabalenka after Cincinnati Open title loss

Jessica Pegula humorously stated that she felt as if she was playing against Serena Williams during her straight-set defeat to Aryna Sabalenka in the Cincinnati Open final. This came after a comical incident during an on-court interview where she mistakenly heard “Serena” instead of “Aryna”.

During her runner-up speech, Pegula drew a comparison between Sabalenka’s serve and that of Serena Williams. She even humorously suggested that she would have preferred to face Williams over Sabalenka on that particular day.

"You had mentioned [Aryna Sabalenka], and I thought you said [Serena Williams], but it felt like Serena today, uh with the way you were serving there for a little bit so I don't know, I may have may have wanted Serena instead of Aryna today," Jessica Pegula said.

With this victory, Aryna Sabalenka gained a 5-2 lead in her head-to-head against Jessica Pegula.
