Max Purcell breaks silence on his doping ban
US Open doubles winner Max Purcell has been provisionally suspended for doping by the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA). The Australian star wrote a big letter about the whole situation.
Purcell revealed that he tested positive for doping due to an error in the medical clinic. The Australian came forward and admitted to violating the anti-doping program and is now provisionally suspended ahead of the new season. Purcell wrote a lengthy letter on social media clarifying his situation.
“As announced by the ITIA today, I have voluntarily accepted a provisional suspension since I unknowingly received an IV infusion of vitamins above the allowable limit of 100 ml. Until last week when I received medical records from a clinic showing that the amount of an IV I had received was above 100 ml, I was fully convinced that I had done everything to ensure that I had followed the WADA regulations and methods."
Jack Draper opens up on the Andy Murray-Novak Djokovic partnership
Jack Draper has claimed that Andy Murray has missed the buzz of tennis since his retirement. The Brit further added that he believes Murray has joined Novak Djokovic's team to feel involved in tennis again.
In an interview with The Telegraph, Draper claimed that Murray struggled to leave the sport before eventually retiring mid-season in 2024. However, the Brit No. 1 admitted that he is surprised by Murray's decision to join hands with Novak Djokovic ahead of the new season.
"It’s obviously a shock that he [Murray] is going to be with Djokovic [as a coach for at least the start of the new season]," he added. "But I can understand that he probably wants that buzz again. I’m definitely wired a little bit that way, as well. I suppose the sport wires you to be that way."
